The Royal Family is bound by rules and protocols that they have to follow whatever their stand is. Although there are some laws that they are allowed to break, they have to sacredly stick to the monarchy's regulations.
But if there is one thing that can be confusing in these directives, it is the rules of etiquette when greeting a specific royal family member. Marlene Koenig of the Royal Musings blog revealed that the royals have to follow different protocols based on their role in the Firm.
Traditionally, the king's wife will be the queen, but the queen's husband has to be created a title in most monarchies. Also, they have to arrive in order of seniority when attending events.
According to Express, that last that will come will always be the most senior of them all. Hence, Queen Elizabeth II usually arrives at the events last, following Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall's arrival.
In the etiquette, women have to greet their seniors with a curtsy, while men have to make a head bow. However, this, again, is based on the position within the Royal Family. They don't have to do it exaggeratedly, but only with simple movements.
But, this, too, can be complicated, especially if the member is not born into the Royal Family or married into one of them. Things will be more confusing if the royal couple is in the same room or not. If this situation arises, the wife has to take her husband's position.
Anyhow, although there are a lot of rules and regulations the royals have to follow, they can also freely break some law that an ordinary citizen can never do. In the list made by Insider, it revealed that Queen Elizabeth could never be arrested or be the subject of civil and criminal proceedings.
However, although she is exempted from the law and has sovereign immunity, she has to make sure that all of her activities are following the law. The Royal Family, too, don't have to follow the legal speed limits when on the road, but it's only valid when police are driving them on official royal duties.
Queen Elizabeth also doesn't have to use a passport when traveling. As every passport in the United King is issued with her name, she's free to go anywhere in the world without one. Anyhow, all the other members of the family need to have it, even her husband, Prince Philip, their kids, grandchildren, and so on.
