Before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced back in January that they will be stepping down from their roles, it was already heavily speculated that they had a rift with the Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in their announcement that they wished to focus more not heir family and charities, but many believed that the reason for their withdrawal is much deeper than that.

Royal expert Lady Colin Campbell is set to release a book called “Meghan and Harry: The Real Story,” where she alleged that rift between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the Royal Family started “at the very first garden party at Buckingham Palace” during the celebration of Prince Charles’ birthday. The event happened on May 22, 2018, just three days after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s nuptials.

In her tell-all book, Lady Colin Campbell claimed that Meghan Markle complained to Prince Harry that she was “bored.” The Duchess of Sussex allegedly wanted to leave the garden party after being there for only 15 minutes. Her claims were seemingly backed up by a clip where the couple was seen leaving the event a lot earlier than the other guests.

The video quickly went viral and many speculated about what may have said at the time. In the clip, Prince Harry can be seen leaning towards Prince Charles, who whispered something to him and the Duke of Sussex said something back. Now, a lip reader reveals what was really said during the garden party before the couple’s controversial exit.

According to the lip reader, Prince Charles said, “We are going now, we have to leave,” to which Prince Harry replied, “You go ahead.” Then the Prince of Wales continued, “We will go now... see you later,” and the Duke of Sussex responded, “Yes, catch up... after.”

If this is indeed true, then there was nothing controversial about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit at Prince Charles’ birthday party at all. These kinds of negativity are one of the main reasons why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to quit royal life.

Meanwhile, celebrity biographer Sean Smith shared that he wanted to write about Meghan Markle’s story after watching the ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey last November. The Duchess of Sussex revealed in the program that it was tough for her to deal with all the backlash that she was getting after joining the Royal Family.
