Taylor Swift spoke out about the LGBTQ rights and the exclusion of transgender in the current U.S. census. The "Lover" singer condemned the Census Bureau for offering only two choices for gender.

Speaking on Pride Live's Stonewall Day live stream event, Swift appeared via recording and talked about how disappointed she was when she got her census recently. Taylor said she found out that there are only two choices for gender in the census: male and female. The "Shake It Off" singer stressed that the absence of census options for trans and nonbinary citizens and not collecting the correct data on a community is a brutal way of dismissing their rights.

The pop superstar also highlighted the milestones the country has achieved so far in terms of acknowledging the rights of transgender and non-binary people. She praised the US Supreme Court for ruling last week the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that protects LGBTQ people from workplace discrimination.

However, Taylor also stressed that there are still issues that need attention. She mentioned the much-needed passage of the Equality Act which she believes is lacking support.

The Stonewall Day event is an annual commemoration of the 1969 riots that took place at the Stonewall Inn, a New York City gay bar, and the historical site where the gay rights movement was launched. Other prominent personalities who spoke during the virtual event included former President Barack Obama, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Kesha, Andy Cohen, George Takei, and more.

Swift also reminisced about the time she had a surprise performance on the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots when she crashed the set of Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson. The "You Need To Call Down" songstress called the people she met at the time "lovely and wonderful."

In Swift's video, she also reminded viewers and her fans to exercise their right to vote. She also advised them to elect people who care about all members of the community.

The 10-time Grammy Award-winner has been using her public platform to push for her advocacies and being vocal about politics. She recently expressed her support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Taylor also called on policymakers to make Juneteenth a national holiday.

Meanwhile, the "Bad Blood" singer is still quarantining with boyfriend Joe Alwyn. Taylor earlier said she has been making the most of the downtime cooking meals, listening to old music, and watching classic movies that she had never seen before.
