Trot singer Lim Young Woong disrupted BLACKPINK's record-setting track for How You Like That? and caused global fans to become more curious about him after he topped Soribada's real-time charts.

Global BLACKPINK, a fandom with over 269,000 followers launched their investigation into the identity of Lim Young Woong Young because among the top five music charts, he was able to break the No. 1 streak of BLACKPINK's How You Like That?, All Kpop reported.

BLACKPINK was able to top the charts for Melon, Bugs, FLO, and Genie but Lim Young Woong held firm to his top position on Soribada, causing BLACKPINK to drop after only a day at the top.

Puzzled fans researched why Lim Young Woong's Trust in Me, is now in a fierce battle with How You Like That for the top position for three days.

For Koreans, it comes as no surprise that Lim Young Woong would get his fair share of attention in Korea because he was the winner of TV Chosun's hit show Mr. Trot. The show broke cable rating records for its finale by reaching a viewership of 35 percent last March, Koreatimes reported.

Lim Young Woong was crowned the winner after a fierce battle among fellow contestants who all enjoyed a great amount of popularity. Lim received 100 million won in cash, an SUV, and the opportunity to sing a song written by renowned composer Cho Young Soo.

From the beginning of the competition, Lim was among the top performers in the show because of his unique way of blending ballad and trot techniques into his performances.

During the finale, he scored a total of 3,890 over second-place finisher Young Tak's 3525.3 points. The scores were aggregated from 10 judges, voting from the show's fans, and real-time voting from the show's fans.

In his speech, he said that he believed he won the show with help from his dead father whose death anniversary happened a few days before the finals. He said that he believed his father may have wanted to help him take care of his mother after they were left alone after his passing. He also thanked his mother, grandmother and the fans for fuelling his drive to the top.

In the recently released June brand reputation rankings for singers, Lim Young Woong also trailed BTS as he took the second spot behind the idol group. Lim Young Woong even ranked ahead of Kang Daniel who was enjoying tremendous popularity because of his recent comeback, Soompi reported.
