NCIS: New Orleans season 7 is happening on CBS, though it's still unclear as to when it will arrive. Due to the real-health crisis happening around the globe right now, most TV shows have been impacted. While work is being done behind the scenes for the CBS series, there are still challenges that come with that.

One of the major challenges in NCIS: New Orleans season 7 is coming up with stories that are somehow relatable with the current situation of the world and how it could impact the characters. Perhaps, we're going to see fewer crowd scenes in the new installment.

Reportedly, work is being done behind the scenes despite the uncertainties. Scripts are likely being written and the creative team is working remotely. Right now, however, there are only a few details about what we can expect in the new installment.

But, previous reports suggest the series will still film in Louisiana despite the current situation. After all, the story mostly revolves around the culture and the people in New Orleans. It would be odd if the series is moving elsewhere to film the latest season.

And because of the uncertainties, the release date of NCIS: New Orleans season 7 remains unknown. There is no indication as to when it could premiere. Filming may not start immediately because of the current situation. At the moment, the health and safety of everyone on set is the main priority.

There is no guarantee that production could start at some point in the fall, as everything still depends on the situation. Cast and crew could go back to work when the situation goes back to normal or at least gets a little bit better. Yet, some things could still change.

If NCIS: New Orleans season 7 starts filming in August, there's a possibility we could see it arriving in early October. CarterMatt noted this is what CBS likely want as it helps the network to ensure that a full season could be filmed -- airing from the fall until May.

As for the episode counts, the new season will reportedly still have 24 episodes. Some of the episodes left in the previous installment may also be included here. It can be noted that season 6 was cut short due to the coronavirus outbreak.

If the episodes weren't scrapped, we could likely see them being part of NCIS: New Orleans season 7. CBS may also want to bring more stories moving forward, especially since the series is one of the most popular shows in the network, alongside NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles.
