Prince Charles is, currently, serving the British Monarchy as the Heir Apparent. When Queen Elizabeth II abdicates or passes away, he will automatically become the King of the United Kingdom.

It remains unclear, though, when this will happen. As noted, the current British Monarch has no intention of abdicating nor stepping down to give way to her son.

But, when the time comes, the Prince of Wales will reportedly have to "give up" his "lifetime passion." As explained, he can no longer pursue this when he ascends to the British Throne.

Speaking to the Daily Express, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams explained that Prince Charles may likely be "pressured" into abandoning his activism toward "climate change." For many years, he has, reportedly, championed several environmental and sustainable causes. However, this will all change when he becomes the head of the British Monarchy, the expert noted.

Unlike in recent years, the future King would likely talk about it much less. It would be incorporated in some of his speeches from the throne, or he would deliver some statements in the middle of his Christmas message, Fitzwilliams explained.

Despite this, the royal expert said that this topic is not "party politics." Hence, he may still touch on such matters at certain times.

However, there will, reportedly, be a huge change as he can no longer "campaign" for these causes in the same way he does today. He might talk about it on certain "broadcasts" or during his private meetings with the Prime Minister, the royal expert added.

For many years, Prince Charles is, reportedly, "committed" in campaigning for the environment. The publication even asserted that he has been doing this for more than half a century now.

Other reports, previously, revealed that this has caused discussions and concerns among officials, noting that royals are not supposed to "meddle" in such matters. As a response, the Prince of Wales, reportedly, said that, if it is meddling, then he is "proud of it."

Speaking in a BBC documentary for his 70th birthday in 2018, he went on to explain that the roles of Heir Apparent and king "were completely separate." There is only room for one sovereign "not two," Prince Charles added.

The royal, reportedly, continued to assert that the idea of him continuing to make "interventions" when he ascends to the throne was "nonsense." When asked about whether he would campaign, he responded that it won't as he is "not that stupid."
