Princess Beatrice and Edoardo got engaged in Italy in September 2019. Their wedding was initially set on May 29 in the Chapel Royal at St. James' Palace with about 150 guests.
Queen Elizabeth II was supposed to host a private reception after the ceremony in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, but the COVID-19 happened. As the virus grappled the UK, the government had to impose lockdowns and strict rules. Their wedding was then moved and expected to be rescheduled in 2021.
However, they surprised the many when Buckingham Palace announced they already tied the knot with a secret ceremony at Windsor Castle. After a couple of cancellations, at last, they got married.
Only 20 guests attended the event, including Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, and, of course, her father, Prince Andrew. A brief statement from the palace revealed the wedding took place at 11 a.m. at the Royal Chapel at Royal Lodge in Windsor.
Aside from her grandparents, "close family" also witnessed the special event. The spokesperson also assured that Princess Beatrice and Edo's wedding followed "all relevant Government Guidelines" to avoid the spread of the virus during the pandemic.
