John Travolta lost his wife, Kelly Preston, 11 years after his eldest child Jett passed away at age 16. Now that the family is still in mourning, a tabloid made new claims that the actor might be leaving the Church of Scientology and will be taking a break from work.

In Touch published a story this week with a headline, "Keeping The Faith?." It referred to the Pulp Fiction actor's devotion to Scientology and claimed that Travolta is considering leaving his church

It cited a source as saying the controversial religion "might be afraid" that Travolta is having second thoughts about Scientology and they want to keep him under control. Gossip Cop, however, debunked the claim that the actor is considering turning his back on Scientology.

The outlet explained that the "might be afraid" wordings that In Touch used indicated that it was purely speculation. It accused the tabloid of using the family's loss to speculate about the actor's personal life.

Gossip Cop also dismissed the rumor about Travolta's long-time devotion to the church. The actor has been an active member of the shady organization since 1975. Preston was also a devout member of the church.

Gossip Cop noted that after their son's sudden death in 2009, the couple remained loyal followers of the church. The Grease actor even gave credit to his church for helping him move on after the tragedy.

The publication said there is no evidence that Travolta had a change of heart about his loyalty to the organization. Gossip Cop believed that In Touch's reason for claiming such was just to sell its magazine.

Meanwhile, another source of In Touch claimed Travolta also decided to step away from work in the meantime to focus on his two kids. Gossip Cop noted that it is understandable for anyone who lost a loved one to step back to their normal routine to process the loss.

The outlet added that Travolta focusing on his children wasn't unexpected at all. It noted that the actor himself made this clear in his earlier announcement following the death of his wife.

Preston passed away on July 12 at the age of 57 after a two-year battle with breast cancer. There were reports that John Travolta has been trying to stay strong for his two kids after the death of Preston.

Meanwhile, Gossip Cop noted that this wasn't the first time that In Touch used Scientology to sell magazines. Earlier this year, the same tabloid claimed Tom Cruise was planning a tell-all interview about his relationship with the organization. The outlet also debunked that story.
