Netizens slam Ellen DeGeneres for staying mum amid all the accusations thrown against her. Fans question the famed host for failing to address the issues her staff alleged about her.
According to In Touch, the demands vary from asking her to discuss how her staff was terribly treated to addressing the issue as they all expect more from her. One fan even accused The Ellen DeGeneres Show of being a sham and only "all for the cameras" amid the allegations. Allegedly, behind the scenes, there is racism going on toward the employees.
On July 16, a lot of the show's former employees claimed that the talk show's "be kind" claim was only happening when the cameras started rolling. An ex-staffer told BuzzFeed News that everything was just "for show."
Allegedly, there was "frequent fear and racism" on set. Although they usually gave money and help people out, it was only happening in front of the camera.
In addition, there were other allegations like "unjust firings and harsh mistreatment." Some staffers revealed they were fired after taking medical or bereavement leaves.
Some were also instructed not to talk to DeGeneres when she walked around the office. Other Black staff members experienced "microaggression" every single day.
While some employees tried to clean DeGeneres' name by putting the blame to the executives and senior managers, one ex-staffer accused the host of being "mainly at fault." The latter explained that the bosses might have told her that things were doing great and everybody's happy. But, she believed it was her whole responsibility to see what was really happening beyond that.
Yahoo! added that DeGeneres is, now, losing her "credibility and moral high ground" due to the allegations of bullying and racism. Eric Schiffer, chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, told Fox News that the rumors about her are damaging her credibility and ruining the possibility of continuing her position at the high moral ground.
He added that several reports about the host's alleged mean behavior and the show's toxic environment, in general, had done permanent damage to DeGeneres' image. As Schiffer claimed that authenticity is king with celebrity brands, he called the news about her a "celebrity brand suicide."
Talking about the recent apology The Ellen DeGeneres Show's senior producers issued, Schiffer said that it only reflected on DeGeneres in the wrong way. He explained that Portia de Rossi's spouse herself is not willing to accept full responsibility of the allegations, and is also trying to get her senior producers to take the total hit that only "further shows a lack of character."
