Lucifer season 5 will premiere next month on Netflix and a lot of surprises are coming in the latest installment. One of the biggest and shocking twists here is the arrival of Lucifer Morningstar's twin brother, Michael. This revelation could cause more chaos for most of the characters on Earth.

While playing the role of both Lucifer and Michael is a gift for Tom Ellis, this news absolutely shocked the rest of the cast. In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, series star Aimee Garcia talked about this big Michael twist in Lucifer season 5.

Usually, they expect a Big Bad coming from an outside source or a guest star to shake up the story. But, Garcia said the news about Ellis becoming the newest villain is jaw-dropping. She described it as a brilliant move that no one sees it coming, including themselves.

What's complicated for Garcia's character, Ella, is that she's aware of Lucifer's origin. That only means she'll be more vulnerable to be hurt by Michael than anyone else. Since she's hurt by the absence of the titular character, his twin brother could use this as an advantage.

In Lucifer season 5, Garcia revealed Ella will be upset with many things since she felt betrayed by him. He left the town at the end of the fourth installment, which could be one of the reasons why she's mad. The two had a tight relationship and she's probably hurt with the idea that he abandoned her.

Chloe is another concern in the new season, as she might become romantic with Michael. She isn't aware that the person whom she with is not Lucifer but his twin brother. She has no idea what's going on. So, Michael could use her to get whatever he wants.

Although his motives are still unclear, it's apparent that Michael is determined to destroy Lucifer's life on Earth. The good news here is that the latter won't be gone for too long and an intense battle is coming between the two brothers.

Meanwhile, Netflix unveiled the poster of the new season with the tagline: "Give in to temptation." The photo featured Ellis' character and Lauren German's Chloe but the image doesn't exactly provide further details as to what's coming up.

Some speculated the key art stemmed from the previous season than in the new one, with Chloe sporting the same look compared to who she is in some footages of Lucifer season 5. After all, there hasn't been enough time to promote the series in a traditional way due to the global health crisis.

Lucifer season 5 will premiere on Friday, Aug. 21, on Netflix.
