Donald Trump and his mask made it to the headlines of many publications when he wore it last week. Several reports noted that this was the first time he donned one in a public setting.

It has become a huge matter before the public considering his previous statements. As reported, he largely emphasized in the past that he would not wear masks, especially in the Oval Office.

The talks about wearing face coverings and masks have continued to grow as a controversial matter. As it happened, it has, reportedly, become a "political flashpoint" given that the presidential election is fast approaching.

But, following his recent visit to a hospital, Donald Trump shocked a lot of individuals when he wore a face covering during the entirety of his visit. When asked, however, if he would support a "national mandate" over wearing face masks, he said that he would not consider it "mandatory," according to CNN.

Speaking to Chris Wallace for an interview with Fox News, the US President reportedly said that he wants everyone to have "freedom." Hence, he does not believe in making it necessary. "No," he added.

These statements, reportedly, come after the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Robert Redfield asserted in a news conference the United States could end the battle against the pandemic if everyone would wear masks in the next "four, six weeks." This could drive the "epidemic" to the ground, the health official explained.

In an opposing statement, Donald Trump does not, reportedly, "agree" with the director's claims that "if everybody wears a mask, everything disappears," he shared. The U.S. President then went on to point out that Dr. Fauci, the "Surgeon General," whom he also described as a "terrific guy," previously said that there is no need to wear a mask. In the end, Trump contended that he is a "believer" in masks, and deemed them as "good."

In the same interview, Donald Trump further contested that the United States economy is now heading for a "V-shaped recovery." This is a sharp decline followed by a sharp gain, according to CNBC.

The U.S. President, then, continued to explain his thoughts about the status of the coronavirus in the country. He, reportedly, believes that it is going to "disappear," at some point.

However, the publication said that the virus is not disappearing. As noted, the COVID-19 cases are reportedly "surging" further in various parts of the country.
