Princess Diana loved Prince William and Prince Harry so much. Despite her hectic schedule, she had always put her sons on the top of her priority list. The Princess of Wales even broke royal protocols just to give her boys a taste of a normal life.
While Prince William and Prince Harry grew up to be extremely close, the royal brothers, unfortunately, don’t have that same bond at the moment. A royal expert, then, shared that Princess Diana would have been “devastated” to see his boys falling out.
"Diana, who doted on both of her sons, would be devastated to witness the breakdown of Harry’s relationship with William,” royal biographer Andrew Morton said.
He added that Prince William, who is second in the line of succession to the British throne, would need Prince Harry’s support during times of trial and tribulation. But, now, that they are “on different paths,” as the Duke of Sussex said himself, things are definitely different for the brothers.
Andrew Morton shared that he believes Princess Diana would support Prince Harry’s decision in following Meghan Markle to the U.S. However, he pointed out that the former actress and Kate Middleton would never understand the brothers’ pain. The royal biographer noted that only Prince William and Prince Harry would know what it feels like to lose a parent at a young age, which is why their support for each other is very important.
In an earlier report, Andrew Morton claimed that Prince Harry broke the “unwritten royal code.” He shared that the Duke of Sussex should support his older brother Prince William, but he left him instead.
Prince William and Prince Harry had always been each other’s huge support system. But, the royal brothers are drifting away from each other in recent years. Many have noticed that they are no longer as tight as before.
Rumor has it that Prince William and Prince Harry's relationship started going downhill after the younger prince married Meghan Markle in 2018. The Sussexes, also, removed themselves from their joint foundation with the Cambridges, which seemingly confirmed the rift between the famous couples.
Royal experts Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito, previously, discussed the brothers’ bond in the Royally Obsessed podcast and shared their thoughts on the situation. Roberta said that despite the duo's strained relationship, she believes that Prince Harry will never “sabotage or alienate” Prince William. Rachel agreed and added that talks about the royal brothers not being close anymore are just mere speculations.
