BTS and BLACKPINK recently received certifications from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for their hit songs Lights and Kill This Love.

According to a report by Soompi, the two KPop groups were certified by RIAJ using its new system. RIAJ, recently, incorporated online streaming in its certification system adding to the previous categories for physical album sales and digital download sales.

Based on the new system, songs that reach 30 million streams are certified silver while those that reach 50 million streams qualify for gold certification.  Songs that reach 100 million streams are certified as platinum hits.

BTS' Lights and BLACKPINK's Kill This Love both surpassed 30 million streams, which mean both records qualified for silver certifications.

This was not the first time for BTS to reach a silver certification since they achieved the milestone three times before with their songs DNA, Boy with Luv, and Fake Luv. They hold the record for being the only Kpop male act to receive RIAJ streaming certification. However, Lights is the first Japanese song by BTS to receive the honor.

BLACKPINK, also, has every reason to celebrate because Kill this Love is their first song to be certified by the prestigious music body in Japan.

Meanwhile, fans of both BTS and BLACKPINK have plenty to look forward to because both groups, recently, announced the release of new singles in August and albums before the end of the year.

BTS revealed that they will be releasing a new English digital single on August 21, which will be inspired by summer. While very little detail has been shared about the single, ARMYs have already expressed excitement over the new material since BTS' last comeback was way back on February 21, All Kpop reported.

BTS, also, announced that they will be releasing a new album before the end of the year. In a broadcast, BTS V also confirmed that he will be releasing a solo mixtape as well, which fans need to look forward to.

BLACKPINK, on the other hand, recently, teased their new pre-release track which will drop next month featuring a mystery collaborator. Fans are speculating that it could be either Selena Gomez or Ariana Grande but YG has not yet confirmed the fan theories.

YG has announced that BLACKPINK's first full album entitled BLACKPINK: THE ALBUM will be released on October 2, Variety reported

The album is expected to contain 10 tracks. BLINKs are expecting a collaboration with Ariana Grande's producer Tommy Brown for one of the tracks, while some have surmised that G-Dragon may have produced one of the tracks as well.
