Prince William and Kate Middleton have ramped up their duties during the coronavirus pandemic. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been busier than ever, especially because Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles need to stay away from these royal obligations as much as possible due to their age, which put them to be at high risk to catch severe COVID-19.

Last week, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Royal Foundation COVID-19 Response Fund awarded almost £1.8 million to support frontline workers and those who are affected by the pandemic. The Duchess of Cambridge shared that she and her husband were “in awe” of the hard work of the frontline workers and warned about the mental health issues.

Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie, then, discussed Prince William and Kate Middleton’s COVID relief fund during the Royally Obsessed podcast. They noted that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge seemto be following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s footsteps.

Fiorito said that Prince William and Kate Middleton tagging 10 charities that would benefit from their foundation is “a page out of Harry and Meghan’s book.” Rachel Bowie agreed and said, "Yes, definitely how they follow the charities of the month and did all of those spotlights on certain charities they loved. I also just love Kate’s vibe."

The fund is helping NHS frontline workers who are struggling with their mental health as they deal with the coronavirus situation. It will also ensure them to have access to individual grief trauma from Hospice UK.

Before the lockdown, Prince William and Kate Middleton visited an NHS center in South London to support the frontline workers and discussed the matter with the staff and officials regarding the coronavirus outbreak, where they were confronted with a “horrendous” reality. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were then left feeling “extremely concerned” over everyone’s safety.

People have witnessed how important frontline workers are during the coronavirus pandemic, and they were automatically seen as heroes. They have saved a lot of lives while risking theirs, and they also showed strength to the public.

But Prince William previously cautioned everyone not to call NHS staff as that for one particular reason. The Duke of Duchess shared that calling NHS staff “heroes” can be a “burden” for them. Instead, he offered options on how people should praise NHS staff. Instead of the term “heroes,” the Duke of Duchess suggested that they should be hailed as “superstars,” “brave,” and “wonderful staff.”
