Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has less than 12 months at the Emirates but the Gabon striker has yet to sign the extension being offered by Arsenal. Team manager Mikel Arteta seemed optimistic that his top scorer will remain after 2021, convinced that the star would benefit from wearing the Gunners shirt for a few more years.

Arsenal recently captured the side's 14th FA Cup title, and Arteta said it should be a sign to Aubameyang that things are looking up for the North London club. The Spanish boss said the marksman sticking with the club could lead to title wins not only in England but also in Europe.

The FA Cup win indeed is a good start for the Gunners heading to the campaign next season. Aubameyang scored two goals in the 2-1 win against Chelsea that opened the door for Arteta's side to compete in the Europa League for the upcoming term.

Arteta said he now considers the Gabon international as one of the best players to ever appeared for Arsenal and the 31-year-old can certainly accomplish greater things by continuing with the Gunners.

"We always had incredible strikers at this football club and Auba deserves to be named and compared with the big names," Metro reported the Spaniard as saying.

Apart from honor and success, the Gunners are making sure that Aubameyang's continued stay with the club will be profitable. Should the goalscorer agree to sign a new deal, he will become Arsenal's second most expensive member of the roster.

Per the same report, Arsenal's offer for the team captain is a base salary of £300,000 a week or improvement of £100,000 from his existing deal. If the agreement is ratified by both parties, Aubameyang stands to soon become the side's highest-paid player.

The distinction currently belongs to Mesut Ozil, who gets a weekly wage of £350,000, but the German is said to be on Arteta's offloading list and could exit from the Emirates as early as this summer.

However, Aubameyang extending his stay with Arsenal will partly depend on certain conditions laid out by the player. One of them is his request for the club board to convince Ousmane Dembele, presently with Barcelona, to join the English side.

Arsenal might be willing to grant that wish but according to the Daily Star, the Frenchman could be unreachable for the Gunners as he valued by Camp Nou at no lower than £44 million, an amount of money that the side will think quite hard to spend these days.

The same report suggested the Gunners are reluctant to splash on Dembele as Arteta already has players on his roster that operate in the same mold as the 23-year-old winger, namely Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka, and Eddie Nketiah.

It's not a remote possibility though that Arsenal can still make a move on Dembele if only to convince Aubameyang to stay with the club.
