SWAT season 4 faces a lot of challenges over the past few weeks, mostly because it is the first major CBS program to start production in Los Angeles. The series took a lot of time and effort before getting the cast and crew back on the set.
The good news is that SWAT season 4 managed to make it through all of the hurdles and filming is now underway. If ever the series won't be facing any problems along the way, we could see new episodes arriving in the fall.
Executive producer Aaron Rahsaan Thomas shared, on Twitter, that the first day of filming for the new season has started. He added that the experience would be "full of triumphs and lessons minute by minute." He, then, ended his tweet by telling cast and crew to be safe and responsible and "#rollSWAT."
Shemar Moore, on the other hand, has been preparing himself even before filming kicks off. In his Instagram account, the actor posted photos of himself training for the upcoming installment. He was able to keep his fitness, something that's required for his job in the series.
Even though filming is underway, we could expect some changes when SWAT season 4 premieres on CBS. For instance, some shots might look different because they need to follow certain health measures and guidelines.
There will be a lot of safety accommodations, including proper social distancing and fewer scenes that could leave both cast and crew vulnerable. After all, the goal here is to keep everyone safe so all the protocols should be followed properly.
Meanwhile, the third installment didn't end as originally planned since filming was forced to shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The remaining stories might be incorporated in the new season, though some of them might be altered.
In addition, SWAT season 4 could address some of the real-life issues today, such as police brutality and reform. These issues have been part of the series from the start and it looks like the show will continue to explore these subjects moving forward.
In a previous interview with The Huffington Post, Thomas said they wanted to expand the conversation about these topics. He noted that they don't view these issues as something to be fearful about, and instead, they see them as an opportunity to address more relevant stories.
Also, the official writers' room revealed on Twitter that they'll be working hard to mine the truth about these issues in SWAT season 4. Perhaps, the series will bring more stories surrounding the policing world and convey important messages so that viewers recognize the importance of these issues.
