Selena Gomez, finally, revealed that she is the mystery artist who will collaborate with BLACKPINK for their upcoming comeback.

After weeks of speculation, fans finally received the confirmation from the American pop star, Billboard reported.

Selena Gomez announced, on social media, that she is releasing a new song with BLACKPINK on August 28th. She, also, revealed the promotional poster for the song, as well as the time of the release. Gomez did not reveal the song title yet, maintaining the air of mystery around the surprise track.

It can be recalled that, as soon as YG dropped the first teaser image for BLACKPINK's August comeback, BLINKs have been guessing who the mystery collaborator for the song will be.

At first, speculation was strong that it was Ariana Grande because of her friendship with Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose. Fans, also, recalled the time that her "Thank You, Next" producer confirmed that he was working with BLACKPINK on a song late last year.

However, rumors quickly died down as Selena Gomez's name emerged as another potential collaborator. As fans continued to guess, YG Entertainment asked fans to wait for the formal announcement.

Fans welcomed the news that Selena Gomez was BLACKPINK's mystery collaborator because she fit the profile of the fierce and strong artists that Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose have worked with in the past.

BLACKPINK, previously, worked with Dua Lipa on the smash hit "Kiss and Make Up" which broke Spotify streaming records last year.

BLACKPINK, also, worked with Lady Gaga on a track for her Chromatica album early this year. In an interview, Lady Gaga said that she handpicked BLACKPINK for the collaboration because of their talent and their passion for their craft.

Lady Gaga said that she was very happy with the result of their partnership and was glad to be the fifth BLACKPINK member for the track "Sour Candy."

BLACKPINK's upcoming collaboration with Selena Gomez will be their second pre-release track this year before they release their first full album in October.

They released the record-breaking "How You Like That" in July as the first part of their 2020 comeback schedule. According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK: The Album will come out on October 2. It is expected to feature 10  tracks that BLACKPINK worked on since last year, Variety reported.
