BLACKPINK maintained their position on the top of the Korean Business Research Institute's August Brand Reputation Rankings for Girl Groups.

After topping the list in July, BLACKPINK maintained their position at No. 1 with a brand reputation index of 9,922,928 this month. Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose, also, charted an impressive 84.77 percent of positive reactions for August, Soompi reported.

BLACKPINK ranked high for the phrases YouTube, 4th anniversary, and "How You Like That," which also happens to be the title of their  pre-release track. BLACKPINK, also, had a positive turnout for related terms like surpass, release, and record.

BLACKPINK's strong performance for August may be attributed to the announcement of their second pre-release track, which will be released on Aug. 28, 2020.

Even though YG Entertainment already dropped the teaser images and the comeback date, the agency is maintaining an air of mystery over the title of the track and BLACKPINK's surprise collaborator.

BLINKs have been taking wild guesses on social media with speculation heavily leaning towards global pop superstars Ariana Grande or Selena Gomez. It can be recalled that, last year, Ariana Grande's producer Tommy Brown came to Seoul and confirmed that he was recording with BLACKPINK.

However, the track has not come out yet. So, fans believe it will be one of the ten songs on BLACKPINK first full album, which will be released this October.

Red Velvet landed in second place, improving their position from last month's fourth-place ranking.  They recorded a brand reputation index of  5,597,781 for August, which  marks a 1.13 percent increase from last month's index.

Red Velvet's positive performance for the month could be attributed to the debut of Red Velvet Irene and Seulgi, the first subunit for Red Velvet.

As for Red Velvet's full group comeback, Irene said that Wendy is recovering well after suffering from a major stage accident last year, which resulted in her hospital confinement for several months. Wendy is spending a lot of time on vocal practice as well as rehabilitation, according to her co-members.

Taking this month's third spot is (G)I-DLE,  who posted a 4,763,242  brand reputation index for August. The girl group improved their score by 58.19 percent from last month's total.

Rounding up this month's Top 10 girl groups are Oh My Girl, MAMAMOO, GFRIEND, IZ*ONE, TWICE, APRIL, and Weeekly.

The brand reputation rankings are derived from an analysis of big data collected from consumer participation, interaction, media coverage, and community index of Korea's girl groups.
