When Calls the Heart season 8 has started its production for a while now. The Hallmark Channel series is one of the few shows that started filming early despite the current health crisis. Cast and crew were able to start working in British Columbia, where it managed to contain the spread on the coronavirus.
Series star Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth, has been sharing some behind the scenes photos of When Calls the Heart season 8. Previously, she shared photos of herself along with the "little rockstars" of Hope Valley. Based on these recent teases, it seems like they didn't encounter any production issues now.
The series started filming early to take advantage of the summer weather in Vancouver. But, because of the current health crisis, we could see certain changes in the new installment. Some of these include fewer indoor scenes to follow social distancing measures.
We could expect more behind-the-scenes updates in the coming weeks and months, along with a few previews. If there won't be any challenges along the way, we could expect the arrival of the new installment in early 2021.
When it comes to the story, the early run of When Calls the Heart season 8 will continue to follow the complicated love triangle involving Elizabeth, Nathan (Kevin McGarry), and Lucas (Chris McNally). In the season 7 finale, Nathan was almost shot and this incident could lead to some changes.
Just recently, executive producer Brian Bird shared on Twitter that one of the upcoming episodes of the new season is titled "Honestly, Elizabeth." The episode could see the character making some firm decisions about her romantic future.
Elizabeth has been in a love-triangle situation through most of the previous season, and we could likely see her sorting her feelings out in When Calls the Heart season 8. Both Nathan and Lucas are great contenders for her heart and it's interesting to see where her heart lies.
But, beyond that, the upcoming season could see dynamic changes in the community while everyone continues to move forward at the same time. While these changes could bring a series of conflicts, some of these could allow others to grow.
Meanwhile, we could expect When Calls the Heart season 8 Christmas special coming later this year. In a previous post on Twitter, Hallmark Channel confirmed the arrival of the episode and the cast members set to appear. Andrea Brooks will, particularly, return as Faith, who departed in season 7.
