The Walking Dead season 11 hasn't kicked off filming yet, but it looks like production could finally begin in the coming months. The season 10 finale has been on hiatus due to the current health crisis, causing further delays to the new installment. Now, it seems like cast and crew could resume working soon.

In a recent report from Deadline, AMC CEO Josh Sapan revealed that they are planning to restart production of The Walking Dead season 11 in Georgia this coming October. Also, the report noted that the second half of the spin-off Fear the Walking Dead season 6 will resume filming in Texas a little bit later in August.

However, even though both shows have a potential production schedule, there are still a lot of safety protocols and health guidelines that need to be followed. We could see a few changes in The Walking Dead season 11 once it arrives on AMC.

The series is known to have a large group of people and zombies on set. Now, such scenes might be reduced and there could be fewer cast members on set to follow the proper social distancing measures. After all, the top priority remains to be the health and safety of everyone.

If the filming schedule will be followed, we could expect new episodes coming next year -- aside from the six episodes beyond the season 10 finale. The good thing is that the current installment is set to premiere on Sunday, October 4, at 9 PM Eastern Time. Then, it will be followed by the premiere of The Walking Dead: World Beyond

Meanwhile, a new face is joining the cast when The Walking Dead season 11 premieres. Recently, it has been confirmed that Netflix's She's Gotta Have It star Margot Bingham will join the series. Her role remains unknown right now, but she's been part of the current season.

Some speculated the actress will be playing the mysterious Stephanie. It can be noted that Bingham has been doing a voiceover of this character in season 10 episodes "Bonds" and "Morning Star." Her face wasn't shown yet, and only her voice can be heard.

Stephanie is an enigmatic survivor of the zombie outbreak in Charleston, West Virginia. She managed to connect through radio transmission with Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt), who could be her love interest later on in the story.

The Walking Dead season 11 is expected to premiere some time in 2021.
