AMC has finally revealed the official release date of The Walking Dead season 10 finale. But, aside from that, the network also announced that an additional six episodes are coming after the final episode and they will be airing next year.
During the Comic-Con@Home panel on Friday, July 24, it was revealed that The Walking Dead season 10 finale is titled "A Certain Doom" and will air on Sunday, October 4, at 9 PM Eastern Time, on AMC. After that, the spin-off The Walking Dead: World Beyond premieres on the network.
Showrunner and executive producer Angela Kang also confirmed that six more episodes are coming in early 2021, in addition to The Walking Dead season 10 finale. These episodes are still considered part of the current installment, so we'll be getting two different finales this time around.
According to CarterMatt, AMC chose to go in this direction to keep its schedule intact. Perhaps, there is a plan for season 11 to premiere in the fall of 2021, and this move allows the network to have the six episodes airing in the first half of next year.
Yet, some things are still subjected to change depending on the current health crisis. It's yet to be seen whether or not cast and crew could resume filming later this year. A lot of factors should be considered first, especially since the series comes with a massive cast and dozens of extras.
As for what's coming in The Walking Dead season 10 finale, an epic battle is brewing between the Survivors and the Whisperers. The latter group is now led by the more chaotic version of Beta, who's seeking revenge after what happened to Alpha.
Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, told Entertainment Weekly that there's an epic battle similar to a "full-on Game of Thrones super war battle." The actor teased that the huge battle scenes was grand on an epic scale and is going to be legendary.
The battle between the Survivors and the Whisperers will be intense and bloody. Since Alpha is now out of the picture, Beta is seeking revenge and wants to destroy everyone. Some lives might be in danger and others may not make it out alive in the end.
Lauren Cohan is also returning as Maggie in The Walking Dead season 10 finale. Her arrival has been teased in a previous preview, in which she received a letter informing her that some of her friends at the Hilltop were now dead. Maggie returns to help the remaining Survivors fight against the Whisperers.
