Shameless season 11 serves as the finale installment of the Showtime series. The show halted its production because of the current health crisis and there's no indication as to when filming could start again. But now, it looks like cast and crew are getting closer to going back to work.

Originally, the plan was to have new episodes of Shameless season 11 airing in either summer or early fall. But, that plan was changed because of the pandemic. The current health crisis hugely affects the production of the final installment.

But, in a recent Twitter post, series star Cameron Monaghan (who plays Ian Gallagher) teased that they'll resume working again soon. While he didn't reveal a specific date as to when filming could kick off, some speculated cast and crew will reunite in the coming weeks.

When filming officially starts, there could be some restrictions and safety measures implemented to ensure the safety of everyone on set. And, since production has already been delayed, we could expect Shameless season 11 premiering at some point in 2021.

Meanwhile, the series finale will also tell a story about the pandemic. The writers opted to make some changes in the story to incorporate the real-life health crisis in the series finale. They're going to deliver timely stories expressed through the show's point of view.

In a previous report from TV Guide, executive producer John Wells said we could expect the Gallagher family dealing with heavy problems in Shameless season 11. This isn't a surprising move as the series is known for addressing real-life issues it the past, including racism, politic, and gender roles.

Now, the final installment will tell a story about the pandemic presented in a comedic way, something that's always been appealing to a lot of viewers. We could see the Gallaghers dealing with the current health crisis expressed through the series' signature lens.

But, aside from this storyline, the series finale continues to follow the lives of the Gallagher family. A lot of happy moments happened in the previous season, including Ian and Mickey's (Noel Fisher) wedding. However, they'll still be tested since some people couldn't accept their relationship.

For instance, Mickey's father, Terry (Dennis Cockrum), wasn't happy that his son and Ian got married. He tried to ruin everything by burning the venue and interrupting the newlywed's honeymoon. He's going to be one of the biggest thorns in Ian and Mickey's relationship in Shameless season 11.
