Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are constantly rumored to have a not-so-good relationship. Even though the pair has a similar journey to the Royal Family as they were both commoners before marrying Prince William and Prince Harry, they, reportedly, not as close as they should be.

According to a new bombshell book about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the fallout started during Kate Middleton and the former actress’s awkward shopping trip. Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, authors of Finding Freedom, claimed that the duchesses "were not at war with each other" but they "struggled to move past distant politeness.”

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, reportedly, started distancing themselves in 2017, when the latter was still not married to Prince Harry. When the women found out they were going shopping on the same street at the time, the Duchess of Cambridge, allegedly, decided to drive the opposite way in her Range Rover instead of inviting Meghan to go with her.

Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claimed that Meghan Markle gifted Kate Middleton a Smythson notebook in an attempt to bond with her. However, the authors pointed out that the duchesses have “nothing in common.” Despite that, the wife of Prince Harry, reportedly, still expected to have a better relationship with Kate.

"But that was not how things turned out. Meghan was disappointed that she and Kate hadn't bonded over the position they shared, but she wasn't losing sleep over it,” the authors wrote.

Another turning point in Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s relationship was revealed by Katie Nicholl. The royal expert said on Channel 5’s Meghan & Harry: The New Revelations that Prince William’s wife didn’t acknowledge the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their final duty back in March.

Many have noticed that Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle barely interacted with one another during the annual Commonwealth Service at London's Westminster Abbey. Even though the Sussexes were just behind the Cambridges, the couples didn’t engage in a conversation at all.

Katie Nicholl said that Meghan Markle appeared to wave at Kate Middleton, but the latter did not reciprocate the gesture. However, it is worth noting that Prince William and Kate first greeted Prince Edward and Sophie, who were sitting beside the Sussexes, before saying hello back to Meghan and Prince Harry, who answered with a smile.
