Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed another special detail about the wheels of Tesla Roadster. The U.S. electric vehicle maker launched the vehicle's prototype in 2006, but fans and auto enthusiasts are still excited even in little details of the upcoming model. The newest detail about the Tesla Roadster came from the horse's mouth and will excite fans.

On Twitter, Elon Musk revealed another interesting detail about the upcoming electric supercar. He confirmed in a tweet that the wheels of the Tesla Roadster would only have a single nut. Although it is only one nut, Musk said that it would be a huge one.

Musk and his followers exchange thoughts about center-lock wheels, which are primarily used in race cars and other high-performance sports cars. Unlike conventional vehicles, the center-lock wheel only uses a single large hex nut. Traditional wheels require four or five nuts to lock the wheel.

Formula One and race series cars use this kind of lock is for convenience and speed of removing and attaching the wheels at the pit stop. Also, this kind offers a larger room for calipers and bigger brake pads. If the Tesla Roadster would feature this kind of wheel, it would be among the select few that feature this kind of wheel. This includes Porsche Carrera GT, Porsche 918 Spyder, Porsche 997, Porsche 991, Koenigsegg One:1, Koenigsegg Regera, Lamborghini Aventador SV and Lamborghini Huracán.

When the U.S. electric vehicle maker unveiled the Tesla Roadster a few years back, it surprised the automotive world with its game-changing specs. In a previous interview with Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, he shared that the vehicle's production version would be way battery in every way than the earlier launched prototype.

Musk previously said that the Tesla roadster is only a dessert to the main course of cars that the company is offering. The upcoming electric supercar is still a crucial component of Tesla's vision along with the Cybertruck all-electric pick-up truck and Tesla Model Y. The electric vehicle maker has reportedly taken multiple steps towards the production of the upcoming electric supercar.

Musk said during the company's Q2 2020 earnings call that the Tesla Roadster would be most likely produced in California. He also assured fans that Tesla would provide updates on the new Roadster and Tesla Semi in the later part of 2020.
