Power Book II: Ghost is coming this weekend on Starz. A lot of intense and exciting moments are coming here. The series will pick up the events that happened in the flagship show, Power. Michael Rainey Jr.'s character, Tariq St. Patrick, will be the center of everything.
Tariq is in a tight position in Power Book II: Ghost. He killed his father, James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick). However, his mother, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), took the fall to save and protect him from the crime he committed.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Rainey discussed his character's motivation and where he's heading moving forward. He told the outlet that Tariq is smart than people think he is. He has Ghost's mentality; he'll do whatever he can to help his family.
Tariq is willing to sell drugs just to make sure his family is good at the end of the day. No matter how hard the situation is or how long it takes him, he's going to do it for the people he loves. His motivation is his family and all he wants is for them to be in a better situation.
Power Book II: Ghost leads Tariq to some dangerous places. He'll be tested by several challenges along the way. Killing his father has a riffling effect and some of these could have unexpected results. Also, his journey will lead him to meeting different people and each of them will have a huge impact on his life.
For instance, he's going to hire the high-powered defense attorney, Davis MacLean (Method Man). This man is willing to help Tariq, but the major problem here is money. Since he doesn't have access to his father's money, he needs to be resourceful to pay the hungry-famed lawyer.
Tariq meets Monet (Mary J. Blige) while he's trying to find ways to pay MacLean. He gets himself mixed up with her business and this won't be easy at all. She's going to help him with his financial needs, but this favor comes at a high price and his world will be messed up.
Meanwhile, Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson) returns in Power Book II: Ghost, as well. We've seen this character in Power, and he's manipulative and corrupt. Now, he is a high-powered US Attorney and wanted to know the truth behind Ghost's death.
Saxe will convince Tariq to tell him the truth that Tasha didn't kill her husband and she's just trying to cover up everything. Perhaps, he knows who responsible for the crime and he's finding a way to convince Tariq to confess from what he did.
Power Book II: Ghost will premiere this coming Sunday, Sept. 6, on Starz.
