Power Book II: Ghost is coming next month on Starz. The Power spin-off follows Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) doing whatever he can to get his mother, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), out of jail. He's going to meet different people along the way, and each of them could impact his life.
In addition to Rainey and Naughton, Power Book II: Ghost will bring new faces on board. For instance, Method Man joins the cast and he'll be playing the role of Davis MacLean. He is a high-powered defense lawyer who could help Tariq save Tasha.
Davis is one of the best people Tariq could have on his side. He's going to try to hire this attorney, but money would be the major problem here. This man won't compromise, that's why Tariq will try to figure out how to get money and pay him.
When he left with no choice, he was forced to turn into a familiar drug game. Eventually, he'll meet a powerful kingpin named Monet, played by Mary J. Blige. She is one of the most powerful people in New York enterprise and knows very well how the business world runs.
Tariq comes across Monet while he's looking for money to pay Davis and fund Tasha's legal case. She could help him with his financial needs, but this favor comes at a price. His world will be messed up as he tries to balance drug operation with his family, school, and love life.
Power Book II: Ghost follows the earth-shattering events that happened in Power. Now, Tariq is living in a completely different world after his mother was accused of killing her husband, Ghost. However, she is just covering up everything to protect his son, who actually killed his father.
In one of the teasers, Tasha is being interrogated about what happened to Ghost. Many believe that she's the one who killed him. But, she's just taking the fall to protect Tariq. He's the one who shot his father, leading to his ultimate demise.
Tariq tries to figure out how to clear his mother's name while covering up everything to avoid the crime that he committed. But, he recognized that doing all of these by himself won't be easy and he needs the help of other people.
Meanwhile, Power Book II: Ghost wasn't able to finish the entire production due to the current health crisis. There is no indication when filming could resume, but cast and crew will probably start working again when the situation gets better.
Power Book II: Ghost premieres on Sunday, Sept. 6, on Starz.
