Power Book II: Ghost is set to premiere next month on Starz. The spin-off series will pick up the events that happened in Power, with Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainer Jr.) now the center of almost everything. He needs to find a way how to get his mother, Tasha St. Patrick (Naturi Naughton), out of jail.

At the end of the original series, Tasha was arrested for the murder of her husband, James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick). The biggest twist here is that she's not the one responsible for what happened and this would be one of the major parts of Power Book II: Ghost.

Tasha didn't kill her husband and she just took the fall to protect her son, who's actually responsible for the murder. She is trying to cover up everything and willing to go to jail, but this won't last forever. The truth will, eventually, be revealed as the series progresses.

A recent clip of Power Book II: Ghost highlights what coming for Tasha moving forward. She is currently in jail, but there's a possibility that the prosecutors find a way to pin the murder on Tariq. Tasha's story seemed to have several loopholes, that's why some aren't convinced she killed Ghost.

Tariq, on the other hand, will do whatever he can to her his mother out of prison without incriminating himself in the process. He is desperate to hire the high-powered defense attorney, Davis MacLean (Method Man). He is willing to help Tariq, but money is the major problem here.

While trying to find a way to pay the hungry-famed lawyer, Tariq gets himself mixed up in Monet's (Mary J. Blige). She could help him with his financial needs, but this favor comes at a high price. Tariq's world will be messed up as he tries to balance his drug operation with his family, love life, and school.

Meanwhile, Power Book II: Ghost also sees the return of Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson). We've already seen this character in the flagship show. He is manipulative, corrupt, and he managed to rise through his ranks. Now, he's a high-powered US Attorney and wanted to find out the truth about Ghost's death.

Saxe is doing everything to convince Tariq to tell him the truth that Tasha is just trying to cover up the situation. Perhaps, he knows who's responsible for the murder and he's just finding a way to convince Tariq to confess from what he did.

In addition, Saxe is giving Tariq a lot of pressure to make his life more uncomfortable. After all, these two had a lot of issues in Power. Saxe could be one of the most interesting adversaries in the spin-off and he could further stir up the story.

Power Book II: Ghost will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 6, on Starz.
