Brad Pitt and his eldest son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, have been estranged for years. Everything started on their altercation on the plane, which, allegedly, incited Angelina Jolie to file for divorce. After four years, where does the father-and-son relationship stand?
There were many tales made up about the incident that happened between Pitt and Maddox on the plane going to Los Angeles from France. According to Gossip Cop, there were conflicting stories from Pitt and Jolie's camps, making the issue more complicated.
TMZ revealed Maddox defended his mother when she and Pitt had a heated argument. Allegedly, the 56-year-old actor "lunged" at his son, who was only a young teenager at the time. The 45-year-old actress, then, tried to go between them and separate the two.
There were questions if Pitt was drunk then, knowing there were different sides of stories from the two parties. Jolie's camp claimed her then-husband started drinking after the incident, while the other party said he was intoxicated.
It was confirmed there was physical contact between the two. So, the LA County Department of Child and Family Services started an investigation. They, also, had to work with the FBI as the alleged fight happened mid-flight.
A source told People Pitt took the matter "very seriously." The insider alleged Jennifer Aniston's ex-husband "did not commit any abuse of his children."
When the investigation got completed, it came to a quiet close, and there were no charges filed. However, the divorce continued, and Pitt and Jolie were still battling their custody and financial issues.
Although things between the former couple were gradually settled, Pitt's relationship with Maddox remained strain. A different source told Us Weekly their relationship continued to be "non-existent."
Nicole Poturalski's alleged boyfriend did not see or speak with Maddox, even to his other son, Pax. His and Jolie's divorce proceedings, alternatively, were, also, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a delay to its finalization.
Although Pitt was seeing the kids, the process of making everything legal was slowed down by the virus. The pandemic had been hard for everyone, including the ex-couple.
Anyhow, Pitt, and Jolie continued the kids' regular visits but there was no progress when it came to resolving legal matters. The two shared six kids, Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 14, and the twins Knox and Vivienne, 11.
