Prince Harry and Meghan Markle went to a preschool in Los Angeles to help the children plant Princess Diana's favorite flowers in honor of her 23rd death anniversary on Aug. 31. However, fans of Kate Middleton called out Meghan for being a copycat since the Duchess of Cambridge also planted flowers with children during the lockdown.

The Sussex pair recently volunteered to get their hands dirty at the Preschool Learning Center for low-income families in L.A. Aside from planting Forget-Me-Nots, Harry and Meghan also guided the children in planting petunias, tomatoes, squash and wildflowers in the school community's garden.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk to the kids after their gardening activity. The Assistance League of Los Angeles shared the photos, showing Harry and Meghan engaging the children in the garden with protective face masks on. One photo had the Duchess of Sussex covered in soil as she helped a boy water the seeds.

However, Kate's fans apparently posted comments on the photos criticizing Meghan and Harry for the publicity stunt. According to one comment, Meghan simply copied what Kate did for charity a few months ago.

In June, Kate was at a children's hospice center in East Anglia to plant sunflowers and create a sensory garden in honor of one of the young patients who passed away. The Duchess of Cambridge also got down and dirty and engaged with the other hospice kids and their families.

Kate's fans think that Meghan copied her sister-in-law's ideas as a PR move and saw no sincerity in her interaction with the children. But the Duchess of Sussex also had some defenders who appreciated how she is following in Kate's lead to show kids the importance of nature.

Meghan also received praises for picking Princess Diana's favorite flowers for the garden. Incidentally, Kate also planted and grew Forget-Me-Nots for the Chelsea flower show in 2019 to honor Princess Diana and encourage kids to be in touch with nature.

Meanwhile, USA Today reported that it's not the first visit for Harry and Meghan at the preschool in the last few months. The Sussex couple also dropped by the site in the early days of the lockdown. Their latest visit was not announced but Prince Harry apparently wanted to honor his mother in a fun way with some kids. Princess Diana was known for her love of children.

In 2021, Prince Harry is set to reunite with Prince William for the unveiling of their mother's statue in Kensington Palace. The project was supposed to be unveiled in 2017 for her 20th death anniversary but the brothers are now determined to complete this in July 2021.
