Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly dropped out of a fundraiser that could help wounded soldiers because Amazon's streaming platform will be airing the event. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer deliver a speech at the affair in June 2021 after they closed a production deal with Netflix, Amazon's rival.

According to reports, Prince Harry and Meghan followed their lawyer's advice to pull out of the Amazon fundraiser because it is a conflict with their exclusive Netflix deal. The said event was supposed to raise money for charities like the Invictus Games, one of the Duke of Sussex's advocacies.

Organizers of the fundraiser are reportedly "gutted" since they were counting on Prince Harry and Meghan's presence to help raise millions of dollars. Prince Harry also apparently gave his word to the organizers last year but the new deal with Netflix prompted a change in his plans.

Invictus Games already canceled its sports event for this year due to the pandemic crisis. The charity's funds are reportedly running dry since the sports summit was its main income generator.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan's Netflix production might also include a documentary about Princess Diana. A source said via Daily Mirror that they are working out a tribute for Prince Harry's mother's charity work.

If the Duke and Duchess of Sussex pursue this plan, however, royal sources said that it might spark another rift between Harry and Prince William. The source, however, did not elaborate why the Duke of Cambridge might oppose his younger brother's plan about doing a documentary focused on their mother.

The news comes as Netflix plans to air the controversial Diana: A New Musical Broadway play in early 2021. Prince Harry has been urged to talk to the streamer's executives to convince them not to run the show since it's filled with false narratives and vulgar scenes.

According to reports, the musical depicts Princess Diana's affair with James Hewitt, complete with bed scenes. It also has one scene where the Princess of Wales inflicts self-harm after the birth of her second son because this disappointed Prince Charles.

The Broadway show was originally set to debut on stage in late March but COVID-19 canceled the screenings. The producers decided to work out a deal with Netflix to air the show before its rescheduled debut in 2021. Prince Harry has not commented on the calls for him stop the streaming platform from airing the Broadway play.
