A musical focused on Princess Diana will air on Netflix in 2021 but a former royal aide is urging Prince Harry to pull the plug on the release. Apparently, the show features a scene where Queen Elizabeth calls the Princess of Wales a "tart."

Netflix plans to screen Diana: A New Musical before its rescheduled Broadway debut in May 2021. A preview of the play, which ran just before the coronavirus lockdown in March, revealed several controversial scenes.

Apart from the tart label, there is reportedly a scene where Princess Diana is in bed with her rumored lover, James Hewitt. Now, an ex-bodyguard has come out and encouraged Prince Harry to stop this musical's release.

Ken Wharfe told The Sun that Harry has this chance to let Netflix know of his "abhorrence" for the musical. Regardless of Sussex pair's new lucrative deal with Netflix, Wharfe believes that the Duke of Sussex loves his mother too much to let this play reach the global public.

Wharfe also thinks that if Harry can stop Netflix from airing Diana: A New Musical, his fading popularity with the British people will be restored. The ex-bodyguard has not seen the musical but he has been aware of the critics' reviews, citing the show as filled with sex, scandal and fictionalized scenes.

Royal experts Dickie Arbiter and Andrew Morton also discussed the play on Good Morning Britain and said that the show is a "great pity" and "tacky." Royal fans even reacted on social media, saying that the production is disrespectful to the late princess.

However, the royal experts said that such a creative process shouldn't be taken seriously since it's still fictional. Others think that the play helps keep the memories of the Princess Diana alive as people continue to talk about her two decades after she died.

Only a few people were able to watch the preview show since the coronavirus lockdown affected the musical's original debut on Broadway. Thus, the producers decided to work with Netflix to release the show to a wider audience. The streaming platform has yet to give an actual release date but the musical will be the first Broadway production to premiere on the screen before the stage.

Meanwhile, sources said that Queen Elizabeth did not know that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a multimillion deal with Netflix. Buckingham Palace will closely examine the agreement for its commercial links as it wants to avoid another controversy similar to Prince Edward's failed production venture.
