BLACKPINK: THE ALBUM recently exceeded 800,000 in pre-order sales, according to YG Entertainment. This is the highest sales record for Kpop girl groups in 23 years.

According to a report by All Kpop, BLACKPINK's first full album is enjoying healthy pre-sales numbers owing to strong support from fans who have been clamoring for BLACKPINK's comeback since last year.

Based on the sales stats, pre-order sales from domestic fans reached 530,000 while sales from international sources accounted for 270,000. Most of the overseas sales came from US and Europe.

Even before the album officially comes out on October 2, it has already broken the record for having the biggest sales for any Kpop girl group. SES was the last Kpop girl group to sell 760,000 units for their album Love 23 years ago.

BLACKPINK: The ALBUM will be BLACKPINK's first full album. It is expected to contain 10 songs that were recorded by Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose for over a year.

One of the songs is rumored to be a collaboration with American rapper Cardi B. If the speculations are confirmed, this will be BLACKPINK's third major collaboration with an international artist this year.

It can be recalled that BLACKPINK kicked off their year with a collaboration with Lady Gaga for the song "Sour Candy". The song was part of the American icon's Chromatica album.

BLACKPINK followed up the collaboration by joining forces with Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande for the summer hit "Ice Cream." Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose performed the song with Selena Gomez while Ariana Grade was credited as one of the writers of the song. Her 7 Rings and Thank U Next producer Tommy Brown and YG's ace producer Teddy Park also worked on the fun and upbeat song.

BLACKPINK: THE ALBUM is expected to cap off BLACKPINK's big comeback year. After promoting their album, members are expected to focus on individual promotions.

It was announced by YG Entertainment that Rose will have her much anticipated solo debut later this year after she completed recording her solo tracks. The label confirmed that BLACKPINK members all agreed to hold off solo activities until after they complete their comeback promotions as a group.

After Rose's solo debut, Lisa will also release a solo single before Jisoo finally drops her solo track, Soompi reported.

It can be recalled that in addition to music activities, Jisoo also landed the lead role in the drama Snowdrop. The project will be written and directed by the team responsible for the megahit cable series Sky Castle.
