An old video of Ellen DeGeneres resurfaced online, where she reportedly mocked Meghan Markle's former job as a briefcase girl on Deal or No Deal. The popular daytime talk show host made a comment about the former TV star, after Meghan and Prince Harry announced their engagement in 2017.

According to Daily Mirror, DeGeneres' old video, where she talked about the royal engagement, has been making the rounds on social media following accusations that the comedienne also "bullied" Mariah Carey in a 2008 video. It comes as the host has been plagued with reports of turning a blind eye to the toxic culture on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

The video where she referenced the Duchess of Sussex has DeGeneres saying that Prince Harry could have had a million dollars, instead of a wife, if he picked a different briefcase girl. Meghan was the model who held briefcase number 24 on the popular game show but she the prize inside was never the jackpot.

DeGeneres also had her wife, Portia de Rossi, weighing on the royal engagement. De Rossi apparently said Americans finally have someone "on the inside."

The talk show host then urged Meghan to invite her and 400 of her audience members to the royal wedding. However, she was not on the wedding's guest list when Prince Harry and Meghan exchanged vows on May 18, 2018 in London.

Some Twitter users did not like what DeGeneres said about Meghan. A fan, however, defended the host and said that her joke about Meghan was not bullying and they have since formed a friendship.

Meghan and DeGeneres became friends after they met at a pet shelter. In an interview in 2016, the Duchess of Sussex recalled how she was deciding whether to adopt Bogart, when DeGeneres and de Rossi came by the same site.

DeGeneres apparently encouraged Meghan to bring Bogart home to rescue the animal. The Duchess of Sussex said she did not have the heart to go against DeGeneres since it was like Oprah Winfrey ordering a person to do something.

DeGeneres and Meghan would meet again a few months after Archie's birth. The talk show host and her wife visited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in London. She told her viewers in September 2019 that she was able to hold and feed Archie during their visit. DeGeneres was also the first person to tell the world that the royal baby takes after her dad's looks and red hair. Today, the Sussex family are said to be neighbors with DeGeneres and De Rossi in Montecito, California.
