Josh Hutcherson has no problem returning to Panem anytime the opportunity arises. The actor expressed his willingness to appear in the upcoming prequel of The Hunger Games, titled The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes, and he hoped that the production team would find a way to make it happen.

The Hunger Games prequel will be based on Suzanne Collins' novel of the same title. Since it is a prequel, Hutcherson's character, Peeta Mellark, will not be found in The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes storyline. The actor admitted he is not familiar with Collins' new book storyline as he hasn't read it yet. Nonetheless, he is hoping that the movie adaptation will find a way for Peeta to appear in it; perhaps, in a fast forward scene.

The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes, which was released on May 19, 2020, will follow the life of the teenage Coriolanus Snow before he became the ruthless ruler of the Capitol. The character was played by veteran actor Donald Sutherland in the Hunger Games trilogy.

The book is about the early days of the dystopian nation of Panem and The Hunger Games. It also features the 10th Hunger Games, when Snow will mentor District 12 tribute, Lucy Gray Baird.

Hutcherson said he would 100 percent say yes to the prequel when he asked to play Peeta once again. Josh said the upcoming movie will likely have fun filming days and he wants to be part of it especially if it will have the same production crew.

The 27-year-old actor played Peeta in all of the four installments of The Hunger Games franchise from 2012 to 2015. Over the years of filming, the actor became close to the other cast members of the franchise particularly to Jennifer Lawrence, who famously played Katniss Everdeen, and Liam Hemsworth, who portrayed Gale Hawthorne.

Hutcherson shared he had a chance to catch up with Lawrence recently. Josh said he met up with the American Hustle actress in a "socially-distanced dinner."

As for Hemsworth, Hutcherson said he met with the actor late last year. The Zathura: A Space Adventure star added he also caught up with Woody Harrelson (Haymitch Abernathy) not too long ago.

Meanwhile, aside from getting back to The Hunger Games prequel, Hutcherson also talked about the roles that he wants to play in the future. The Journey to the Center of the Earth actor said he has been fascinated with World War II documentaries and these made him want to play a soldier-type character if given a chance.
