Apple has released the iOS 14 to the public, unleashing a host of new features for a range of iPhone models.

After several months of beta testing, Apple officially released the iOS 14 update to the waiting public. It includes a host of new features, including the all-new App Library, Home screen widgets, and many more. According to the Cupertino-based tech giant, iOS 14 can run on older iPhones versions like the 6s and later models. Apple also said that iPhone models supported by iOS 13 are also eligible for an iOS 14 update.

Home Screen Widgets

Among the new features that the iOS 14 brought to the iPhone is the capability to add widgets directly to the Home screen. This means that users can switch the iconic icon grid to include widgets for first-party Apple apps, as well as those created by third-party developers. Users can also add a Smart Stack of several widgets to the Home screen, and iOS 14 will utilize the iPhone's on-device intelligence to display the right widget based on location, time, and activity.

App Library

The all-new App Library is also among the host of new features unleashed by the iOS 14 to the iPhone. Working in conjunction with the new Home screen widgets, the App Library helps organize the user's app in one straightforward and easy-to-navigate view. It also intelligently shows apps that are useful and helpful in a particular moment. This basically means that you no longer need to keep all your applications on the iPhone's Home screen. Instead, you can get rid of apps from the Home screen and store them in the App Library where you can still continue to access them.

Picture-In-Picture (PiP) Support

Thanks to the iOS 14 update, one of the new features unleashed to the iPhone this year is the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) video support. Long considered as one of the best features of the iPadOS, this year's iOS 14 update activates the feature on the iPhone and allows you to watch video from a host of applications on the device while you explore throughout iOS 14. The PiP also covers FaceTime calls, allowing you to use other applications while staying in a FaceTime call.

Other new features that the iOS 14 update brought to the iPhone is the YouTube 4K which now allow you to play 4K videos on the device, the compact interface where Siri and incoming calls no longer occupy the entire screen, and the ability to change your iPhone's default browser and email applications. There are many other notable features that iOS 14 unleashed to the iPhone. If you wish to experience the many advantages that these new features offer, you can update your iPhone now to iOS 14 by simply opening the Settings app, selecting General, and then tapping on the Software Update.
