Supernatural season 15 is returning next month on The CW. The series halted its production earlier this year due to the current global health crisis. A lot of things have changed over the past few months because of the pandemic and it seems like the show opted to go in a different direction, as well.

Supernatural season 15 is one of the shows that was forced to shut down because of the COVID-19 outbreak. The current installment, which serves as the series finale, was originally set to conclude in spring. However, the schedule wasn't followed due to the current situation.

While cast and crew are back to work to film the remaining episodes of the final season, some factors are still needed to be considered. There are few changes related to the real-life health crisis, including how some scenes are written and shot.

In a recent interview with TVLine, executive producer Andrew Dabb discussed some of these changes in the series finale. He said that they had to simplify the pathways in order to get what they want. The final episode of Supernatural season 15, in particular, was supposedly big and super extravagant.

But then, their plan wasn't feasible now considering the current situation. The good thing is that they were able to find an alternative to get to the same place and plot-wise. The executive producer noted that it's all about being adaptable.

They had to do some rewritings to accommodate the global health crisis. Nothing has changed fundamentally as to where the final installment is heading. Dabb explained that the storyline for the series finale is unchanged.

The scene work is different this time around. There won't be many bad guys in a scene as they would normally have because of the filming restrictions. Yet, the executive producer made it clear that everything remains the same in terms of plot and characters.

Meanwhile, Supernatural season 15 returns with a festive episode, with the title "Last Holiday." We're going to see Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) and Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) celebrating several occasions, from Halloween to Thanksgiving.

The episode sees Dean and Sam discovering a wood nymph (guest star Meagan Fey), who's living in a bunker. The entity is willing to do whatever she can to protect her family. The synopsis seemed to be concerning, but Dabb teased it will be a fun one.

Supernatural season 15 will be airing its new episodes starting on Thursday, Oct. 8, on The CW.
