Kate Middleton and Prince William did not have any intentions to leave out Meghan Markle in an Instagram post for Prince Harry's special day. The couple reportedly issued a statement as fans of the Sussex pair criticized the Cambridge royals for allegedly snubbing Meghan.

On Sept. 15, the royal family posted their online birthday greetings for Harry's 36th birthday. Kate and Prince William chose a photo that had the brothers having a good time as they competed during a run. Kate was also seen in the sidelines running alongside William and Harry but Meghan was not in the picture

According to NZ Herald, Kate and Prince William's "snub" of Meghan was the subject of a frenzied debate among royal fans for days. Many speculated that the omission was a sign that the Fab Four's relationship is still not on the mend.

Lizzie Robinson, the producer of ITV's Royal Rota, said that Kensington Palace made a rare comment about the fans' reaction against Kate and Prince William's social media post. Negating the snub, sources at Kensington apparently said that people "read too much into the picture" shared on the internet.

The source at Kensington also added that it was "just a nice photo" to include in their birthday greetings for the Duke of Sussex. Buckingham Palace and Clarence House, the offices for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, also issued photo greetings without Meghan in the picture since she wasn't the one celebrating her birthday.

The clarification comes as Daily Mirror reported that Kate and Prince William were not at the Zoom video conference for Harry's birthday. Prince Charles apparently set up the call to Montecito, California, where the Sussexes are based, with Camilla and Queen Elizabeth. The Cambridges were presumably in a royal engagement so they missed the family's online get together.

Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight that William and Harry are actually in a better place today than before the Sussexes left the royal fold. The literal distance between the brothers has been seen as a good thing and they are now speaking more often on the phone or in video conference calls than before.

Nicholl said that Harry and William are far from planning a cozy Christmas get together at this point in their reconciliation. However, the royal expert said that things are "definitely better" after their alleged rift and months of not talking to each other.
