COVID-19 continues to infect millions worldwide. However, there have been many recoveries among celebrities and others that have inspired a world waiting for a cure.

Cardinal Tagle

Prefect of the Vatican's Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, recovered from COVID-19, the news arm of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines said Wednesday.

Tagle, the Archbishop of Manila between 2011 and 2019, is the latest well-known Filipino to have defeated the novel coronavirus.

Unlike others who contracted the virus, Tagle didn't display any symptoms after arriving Sept. 10 from Turin, Italy. He tested positive later and was isolated for almost two weeks.

Former World's Heaviest Man

Juan Pedro Franco, the former "world's heaviest man," said from his Aguascalientes, Mexico home that he had recovered from the novel coronavirus.

Franco, 36, said his weight loss therapy that included several operations, helped him beat the disease. From 595 kilos, Franco now weighs around 208 kilograms.

Speaking with Agence France-Presse, Franco said he was a "very high-risk" patient when infected with COVID-19 - and this made his battle harder. He has a history of high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Former Italian Premier

Last week former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi was discharged from hospital following what he referred to as an "insidious" fight against the virus.

The 83-year-old said his doctors regarded his case as high-risk because of his age and other existing health issues. Berlusconi has a pacemaker and has struggled with heart problems in the past.

Since his recovery, Berlusconi has encouraged people to take COVID-19 seriously and follow government regulations which would help curb the spread of the virus.

Berlusconi is known in Italy for his three separate terms as prime minister as well as some personal issues. He tested positive earlier this month.

Robert Pattinson

Following news reports that "The Batman" star Robert Pattinson had been infected with COVID-19, a new report revealed filming was expected to resume sometime next week.

MuggleNet Harry Potter fan site posted on its Twitter account that Pattinson was "doing great" following his positive test. The production has around three months of shooting left.

Filming for "The Batman" was paused for a few months following Warner Bros.' announcement that "a member" of the production team had tested positive for COVID-19. Pattinson and Warner Bros. haven't confirmed if it was Pattinson who contracted the virus.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson

Earlier in September Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson revealed in an Instagram video that he tested positive for the virus - as did his wife Lauren and two daughters. He said the family had since recovered.

Last week, Johnson's producer partner, Hiram Garcia, said the former wrestler was getting back to work for the filming of Netflix's "Red Notice."

In his video revealing the diagnosis, Johnson said recovery for he and his wife was much different from that of their daughters. Still, they overcame the virus together. "We got through it as a family," he said.

As of Wednesday, there were around 31.7 million worldwide infections while the number of deaths linked to COVID-19 was nearing 980,000.
