SM Entertainment backtracked on the voting system for the promotion of NCT's first full album after they received massive backlash from NCTzens.

According to a report by All Kpop, the label posted an official announcement regarding their proposed voting after fans threatened to boycott the system.

Fans were initially happy over the voting system when they saw that it empowered them to use serial numbers provided in the NCT albums on the NCT 2020 website to choose which activities they want the members to participate in. This included a costume video chat fan signing event, a mobile game contest, a pajama party, or a 24-hour relay cam.

However, it was the second part of the voting that irked most fans because it required them to vote for which members they want to participate in the various events. This meant that only members who amass a lot of votes will get to participate in the promotional activities.

In response to the massive backlash, SM Entertainment explained their side and said that they tried to involve the fans so that they may be part of creating the promotional events. However, because of fans' concerns, the label announced that they will change the system for the event planning.

Instead of voting for all the activities, the voting will only be limited to the <Want!: Chose what you want NCT to do for you> event.

They also announced that the unit groups will be chosen by the NCT members through VLive broadcast which will show new aspects of the members through different contents.

It can be recalled that SM Entertainment recently confirmed a two-part comeback from NCT this October entitled NCT 2020: Resonance Pt. 1 and NCT 2020:  Resonance Pt. 2.

NCT 2020: Resonance Pt. 1 will be released on October 12 and will feature two title tracks  -- "Make a Wish" and "From Home." NCT 2020: Resonance Pt. 2 will be released sometime in November.

In related news, NCT recently expanded the group by adding two new members, bringing the total number of members to 23.

Shotaro and Sungchan were introduced to the fans via VLive broadcast. According to the 19-year-old Sungchan, he was a big soccer fan and loved to write rap songs. NCT members teased that he was like a second Jungwoo in the team.

Meanwhile, Shotaro expressed excitement in being able to promote with the rest of the members because they were all nice and welcoming. He said that, even though there was only a short time join them in preparations, he had a lot of fun. Shotaro will join NCT for promotions of NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 1 and Sungchan will join the group for Resonance Pt. 2.
