Demi Lovato and fiancé Max Ehrich have called it quits after six months of dating and two months of engagement. What made them decide to end their short-lived romance?

A source confirmed to Us Weekly Lovato and Ehrich's relationship had ended. The news came after the 28-year-old singer defended her now-ex-boyfriend over his thirst posts about Selena Gomez.

Since then, In Touch claimed the songwriter had a hard time to keep their relationship "afloat." Another insider told the publication the pressure seemed to be "getting to her."

The tipster continued the former Disney star had "a lot riding" on their engagement. Indeed, she was very in love with Ehrich and she would do everything to protect their romance, but it seemed to be "backfiring" on her.

She even relocated to Atlanta to be near the 29-year-old actor as he worked on his latest movie, Southern Gospel. However, this move seemed to take its toll on her.

The source added traveling to Georgia to be close to her former beau seemed not a good idea for the "Sober" hitmaker. Sure, Ehrich loved her too but he needed his space. It wasn't even a secret that he had been feeling overwhelmed.

Lovato and The Young and the Restless star started dating in March. After a couple of months, they officially confirmed their romance while slow dancing in Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber's "Stuck with U" music video.

They quickly fell in love with each other and in April, news emerged Ehrich was already planning to propose. He then popped the question on a Malibu beach in July.

In a post on Instagram, Lovato shared some photos of the proposal and revealed she knew she loved him the moment they met. She couldn't describe her feeling to anyone who hadn't experienced the same thing, but she felt lucky Ehrich felt that, too.

The songwriter continued that he never pressured her to be anything other than herself. He even wanted her to be the best version of her.

Hence, Lovato felt honored to accept his hand in marriage and confessed her love for him, more than a caption could say. At the time, she admitted she's already excited to start a family with Ehrich.

Alternatively, Ehrich praised his then-girlfriend for being the most beautiful woman "inside and out" in the entire world. He, too, couldn't be more grateful that God brought them together, adding he loved her and would forever cherish her "pure, beautiful, and infinite soul."
