Ozark season 4 is the final installment of the hit crime drama series. The upcoming season will consist of a total of 14 episodes, wrapping up the loose ends since the beginning. Now, the biggest question is whether or not one of the major characters will be killed off before the show officially concludes.
The series isn't new in killing some of its characters in unexpected ways. For instance, we've seen the deaths of cartel attorney Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) and Jacob Snell (Peter Mullan). Now that Ozark season 4 serves as the final outing, fans can't help but wonder if another character will die.
Some speculated that Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan) would be the latest casualty in the new season. His life might be on the line because of his romantic relationship with Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery). They got together in an unexpected twist in the third installment, putting Wyatt's life in jeopardy.
The character's association with Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) could be another reason why he'll be murdered in the final season. She lost a lot of people she loved, with his father Cade Langmore (Trevor Long) got killed off after proving to be a liability back in season 2.
Ruth's most recent loss was his boyfriend Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey), who was assassinated under Wendy Byrde's (Laura Linney) orders. If this pattern will be followed in Ozark season 4, she may lose the very last person she loves, her cousin, Wyatt.
This would fit into Ruth's arc, as well. From the first three seasons, she's been trying to become a Byrde -- shedding her Langmore identity. Yet, her experiences changed her outlook in life and she might go in a different direction now.
Wyatt's death could be the turning point for Ruth to become a stone-cold queenpin and she'll decide to launch her own business. She learned a lot from the Byrdes, and she knows how to operate illicit transactions in a legitimate way. There's a possibility she could take over their business, as well.
Meanwhile, Netflix hasn't confirmed the official release date of Ozark season 4. The series hasn't started production at the moment, but it seems like the cast and crew are getting closer to starting everything soon. Indiewire reported that the final installment is set to begin production on Monday, Nov. 9.
Jason Bateman, who plays Marty Byrde, told the outlet that they're moving towards the mentioned date. He added that they're confident in the health guidelines and protocols that they'll be following. Some things are a little bit different now due to the current global health crisis.
Ozark season 4 is expected to arrive in late 2021 or early 2022.
