The sad news that the Ford Mustang GT350 has been discontinued is still fresh in the minds of fans, but the automaker is seemingly helping ease the pain brought by that announcement when it informed the industry earlier that the Mustang Mach 1 is now open for pre-order following its cost reveal.

Ford announced earlier today that the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 production is getting closer. The upcoming GT350/Bullitt cross retails at a starting price of $52,915 with the 5.0-liter V-8 engine. The price is $5000 higher than the Bullitt, which shares the same engine specs.

That particular engine makes 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, which matches that of the Bullitt but gains a little bit from the Ford Shelby GT350. This includes the engine oil cooler, intake manifold, and oil filter adapter. The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 features the standard six-speed manual transmission and the optional 10-speed automatic transmission.

To feature improved downforce, Ford equipped the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 with a beefier front splitter. The upcoming Mustang sports a specially tuned MagneRide adaptive shocks, unique electric power-steering calibration, stiffer anti-roll bars and front springs, and the Mustang GT Performance Pack 2's brake booster. It also features the rear toe links, rear axle cooler, and rear diffuser of the Ford Shelby GT500.

The upcoming 2021 Mustang Mach 1 borrows the rear tire spats of the GT500. The 19-inch wheels appear in tarnished dark-painted aluminum with 19 x 9.5 x 10 measurement. The Mach 1 also features a Handling Package that is a good reason for going with the stick shift. It comes with higher downforce front splitter and wider wheels as among the changes in the upcoming vehicle.

Aesthetically, the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 comes with an optional appearance package, which includes a black side and hood stripes with reflective white, red, and orange accent stripes. It also comes with a deep 3D mesh and faux lamp elements resembling the original Mach 1.

There are new side grilles, too, and most of the vehicle's trim and exterior brightwork is changed to a low-gloss Magnetic grey finish. According to the automaker, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is available in other shades. This includes silver, black, white, blue, and red, plus Twister Orange and Grabber Yellow.

Ford's recent announcement of the price of the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 is in line with the celebration of the 73rd anniversary of Chuck Yeager's breaking the sound barrier, also known as Mach 1, which happened on October 14, 1947.
