The anime adaptation of Dr. Ramune-Mysterious Disease Specialist is about to hit the small screens and it looks very promising. The show will feature a doctor and his apprentice's journey as they fight a mysterious disease that no medicine can cure.
The anime series' official website recently dropped Dr. Ramune-Mysterious Disease Specialist's new cast, staff, and first-ever promotional video. Of course, it also revealed its official release date.
The preview introduced the main protagonists, Dr. Ramune and his high school student Kuro. It also presented the supporting cast, Ayame and Nico, while giving a glimpse of its medical fantasy theme and stunning visuals.
Dr. Ramune-Mysterious Disease Specialist will tell the story of people's suffering when something "strange" enters their mind and causes a strange disease. This illness can be seen in their bodies, but no one can say what it is, Epic Dope noted.
They called the unknown illness a "mystery disease." Dr. Ramune and Kuro will try their best to fight this mysterious ailment that even modern medicine cannot cure.
In the show, Kana Ueda will play the role of Ayame, the former owner of Mysterious Wares Shop Akatsuki, Anime News Network revealed. She creates the mysterious wares herself, and although she's only nine years of age, she remains to have the memories of her past life, where she used to love 103 years old.
Nobuhiko Okamoto will also join the series as Nico, the old Ayame's great-grandchild. He is warm, kind, and always smiling, making him famous in the neighborhood. Kids even call him "the smiley man." He has a condition that makes him see his surrounding better than somebody else.
Yuma Uchida will take the lead role of Ramune, the doctor who specializes in mysterious diseases. He is foul-mouthed, rude, and doesn't understand things around him, unlike Nico. However, it can't be denied he's a great doctor who can quickly identify the root cause of any disease.
Lastly, Takuma Nagatsuka will voice the role of Kuro, the junior high school student who becomes Ramune's disciple and assistant. He has good judgment, motor skills, and a rational mind. However, he always plays as the straight man when Ramune says or does anything.
It is also hard to understand Kuro's mood, thanks to his poker face. Despite his attitude and behavior, he trusts Ramune, the known mystery disease specialist.
Dr. Ramune-Mysterious Disease Specialist is set to be out in January 2021. Crunchyroll will also stream the new series outside Asia after its TV broadcast.
