It has been previously confirmed that Jensen Ackles joins the rest of the Supes in The Boys season 3. The actor is going to play the role of Soldier Boy, who will have a huge part in the next chapter. His presence could cause some chaos to other characters moving forward.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Supernatural star is coming on board in The Boys season 3. His character Soldier Boy will be one of the first celebrity superheroes joining The Seven. He is going to be a fundamental character within this world.

Soldier Boy is representing a specific part of history. He was the leader of Payback, which consist of Eagle the Archer, Tek Knight, Swatto, Crimson Countess, and Stormfront. Eventually, he was outranked by the latter member. The team is more like a lesser version of The Seven.

While only a few details were known about Soldier Boy, it looks like the upcoming installment would be all about him. In fact, executive producer Eric Kripke discussed how Ackles' character will be involved in the story moving forward.

Speaking to a recent interview with TVLine, Kripke said that the next chapter is sort of about Soldier Boy. His arrival comes with big season mythology that the character threads all the way through. He is entirely different from Aya Cash's Stormfront.

Additionally, The Boys season 3 will, reportedly, explore Soldier Boy's Payback and all the members in it. Viewers could learn more about the team and how the members were different from The Seven. It could shed some light on where the story is in the present.

Meanwhile, those who expect that Ackles' character would be a good guy will be disappointed. Kripke told Variety that as they're writing him, they started to flesh out Vought's history since Soldier Boy is similar to John Wayne. He was the Homelander (Antony Starr) "before Homelander."

Even though The Boys season 3 isn't arriving until next year, the executive producer has been sharing updates about what's coming. In his previous Twitter post, Kripke confirmed that the title of the premiere episode is "Payback," a reference to Soldier Boy's team.

The title could be a reference to what happened in the season 2 finale, as well. Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), in particular, lost some of the people that he truly loves -- especially Becca (Shantel VanSanten). He is possibly seeking revenge and plans to take The Seven down once and for all.

Production for The Boys season 3 isn't underway as of yet, but the series is expected to return in 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.
