Red Velvet pushed through with their performance at the 2020 Gangnam Festival but their performance was cut out from the televised rerun on November 1.

According to a report by Koreaboo, Red Velvet members Irene, Joy, Yeri, and Seulgi performed "Psycho" at the SBS's ON TACT 2020 GANGNAM FESTIVAL: Yeongdong-daero K-Pop Concert which was streamed online through SBS' YouTube channel.

The performance was supported by Reveluvs, who were glad to see the group intact despite Irene's recent attitude controversy. However, they were disappointed when the entire "Psycho" stage was cut out of the televised rerun of the event.

The network may have opted to edit out the performance to avoid criticism amid the controversy surrounding Irene's rude behavior towards the people she worked with in the past.

After finding out that Red Velvet's part was left out of the televised rerun, fans took to social media to air their displeasure over SBS' decision.

According to fans, they were looking forward to seeing Red Velvet perform at the event. They said that everyone already knew that they were part of the line up so it made no sense for SBS to edit out their part on the rerun.

Other fans said that it was wrong for SBS to persecute the entire group like criminals when only one member was being criticized.

While some fans blamed SBS for the editing, there were also some who defended the network and said that it was a logical call to avoid controversy.

Others blamed Irene for the treatment that the rest of the members were getting. They said that, if she did not behave badly, none of these things would have happened.

It can be recalled that Irene was subjected to a flood of criticism after a photoshoot editor made a vague post about an anonymous idol who demeaned her in public.

Irene quickly owned up to her mistake and vowed to reflect on her actions, but a barrage of other artists and staff supported the photo editors' claims. They also shared their negative experiences with the Red Velvet leader.

While there were members of the industry who posted about their positive working relationship with Irene, many fans still wanted her to step down from Red Velvet to protect the other members who were innocent of wrongdoing. Fans said that the group could survive without their leader because they were all talented and beautiful, Koreaboo reported.

Following the controversy, big brands such as Olive Young, online shop SSG and cosmetic brand Clinique pulled out their ads featuring the Red Velvet leader, All Kpop reported. The release date of Irene's debut film Double Patty may also be affected by the controversy.
