The trailer of The Blacklist season 8 has been released by NBC, just recently. The clip featured a lot of intense moments and action-packed scenes. The showdown between Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) and Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone) was, particularly, teased.

Usually, the series tends to introduce new Big Bad during its early run. However, the situation will be different in the upcoming The Blacklist season 8. Based on the promo, Liz might be the central adversary in Red's life. She turned her back on him and joined her mother, Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins).

The trailer featured Liz seemingly ready to bring Red down while working with her mother at the same time. This could be the major focus of the new installment, though it's yet to be seen whether or not Liz will, indeed, become a new adversary moving forward.

What makes the situation complicated is that Red recognized Liz is an intimidating opponent. They have formed an emotional bond over time, which makes it harder for him to fight against her. Red isn't capable of killing Liz and all he wants is the best for her.

But, even though he does care for her, he's still keeping secrets from her. It's clear that he's hiding something and doesn't want anyone to know what it was. Now, Liz is determined to know the truth and she'll do whatever she can to uncover Red's true identity.

In addition, the official poster of The Blacklist season 8 featured Red and Liz with a tagline: "No more secrets. No more lies". It could be a reference to Liz's current situation, which is trying to find out the truth about Red and his secrets.

Meanwhile, there's been a mystery surrounding the Sikorsky Archive, something Ilya Koslov (Gabriel Mann) was obsessed with in season 7. Speaking to TV Insider, executive producer John Eisendrath revealed that this will prove "critical" to learning more about Red's identity.

Also, executive producer Jon Bokenkamp promised that The Blacklist season 8 will have "big swings, big betrayals, big reveals." He hinted that Katarina will have "revelations" about Red, which could drive everything to come.

Eisendrath further noted that Liz really wants to know who Red is and why he's interested in her. Since she's siding with her mother now, Katarina offered the best opportunities to answer those questions. Perhaps, she revealed something that caused Liz to hate Red.

The Blacklist season 8 is set to arrive on Friday, Nov. 13, on NBC.
