The Blacklist season 8 is set to begin production this October in New York. However, the cast and crew are going back to work with a heavy heart as they mourn the death of Clark Middleton, who played Glen Carter. The actor died at the age of 63.
Ahead of The Blacklist season 8 filming, Middleton's wife Elissa announced the passing of her husband. The actor transitioned to Sunday, Oct. 4 as a result of the West Nile Virus, which has no known cure. Executive producer Jon Bokenkamp also shared his own sentiments.
Bokenkamp said he is heartbroken over what happened and noted that Middleton was "simply an incredible guy in every way." The executive producer added that the entire The Blacklist family is devastated at the news and they lost him way too soon.
Following the news about Middleton's death, some cast members pay tribute to him, as well. For instance, Amir Arison, who plays Aram, shared a photo of him and the late actor on his Instagram account. He described Middleton as thoughtful, a major talent, and a true gentleman.
Megan Boone, who plays Liz, also shared several photos of the late actor. She said that she'll always be grateful to Middleton for the talent and kindness he shared. The actress added that losing him casts a shadow as they set to begin filming in the second week of October.
Although Middleton's character didn't appear in every episode, the late actor left a mark on the show. One of his memorable and finest episodes was when he joined a contest in order to win an extremely valuable car for Raymond Reddington (James Spader) at a dealership.
It remains to be seen how Middleton's character will be written out in The Blacklist season 8. But, a proper tribute is definitely coming. The series has been doing its best to honor those it has lost, such as the tribute to the late Brian Dennehy (Dom) at the end of season 7.
Meanwhile, the series will be filming the remaining episodes in the previous installment before opening a new chapter in The Blacklist season 8. Bokenkamp teased during the Comic-Con @ Home that the twist in season 7 finale could go even more haywire.
The episode focused on Liz's betrayal on Reddington. She chose to side with Katarina (Laila Robins) over him. Now, we're going to get some resolution in the new season. Bokenkamp noted that everything would be clear where Liz is heading once the latest installment premieres.
The Blacklist season 8 is slated to return on Friday, Nov. 13, on NBC.
