The Blacklist season 8 hasn't started filming at the moment. The series is facing several filming challenges because of the global health crisis. But, some suggest production could begin this coming fall, though nothing is officially confirmed considering the current situation.

While the pandemic remains to be the biggest hurdle when it comes to filming shows, some series are starting to adjust to the situation. Recently, Harry Lennix, who plays Harold Cooper, said The Blacklist season 8 is eyeing for a September production date.

Nothing is confirmed at the moment, but many were optimistic the series could find a way to start everything and everyone could begin working in New York. If the show starts filming in the mentioned month, we can expect the new installment premiering in November.

CarterMatt noted that this would allow the producers to have enough time to edit some episodes and deliver a handful of stories before Christmas. However, we could also expect some changes in The Blacklist season 8 once it arrives on NBC.

For instance, some scenes might be reduced and there would be a few people on set to follow the proper social distancing guidelines. Cast and crew need to comply with certain health measures and protocols to ensure the safety of everyone.

As for what story we can expect in The Blacklist season 8, the series isn't planning to scrap the scripts that were originally planned in the season 7 finale. The battle between Raymond Reddington (James Spader) and Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins) continues in the early run of the upcoming installment.

During the Comic-Con @ Home, executive producers Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath teased what viewers can expect in the new season. Bokenkamp hinted that a huge twist at the end of season 7 could get even more haywire.

Liz's (Megan Boon) betrayal on Reddington is the major focus here. Bokenkamp explained that everything would be clear where the former is heading once the series returns. Meanwhile, Eisendrath teased the new installment will begin with a much more heightened and dramatic place than usual.

Moreover, the current health condition of Reddington will be further addressed, as well. According to Eisendrath, this storyline will explore the emotional side of Spader's character, who's dealing with an unknown illness right now.

All of the big stuff in season 7 finale will be incorporated in The Blacklist season 8, making it entirely different from the preceding installments. Both Bokenkamp and Eisendrath confirmed the remaining three episodes will be filmed and the material wasn't changed.
