The Blacklist season 8 is coming on NBC, but we just have to wait for a while as to when it could arrive. There's no clear indication when will production begin again, considering the current global health crisis. But despite the wait, a lot of big stories are coming in the new installment.

One of the biggest questions in The Blacklist season 8 is whether or not a new Big Bad comes. It's clear that Katarina Rostova will be featured in the first few episodes. Her story wasn't wrapped up in season 7 as filming was shut down because of the real-life health crisis.

There are a lot of mysteries when it comes to Katarina, most especially her status. Her motives aren't clear at the moment, but she's determined to bring Reddington down. We'll learn more about here, as well as her plans once the new installment arrives.

But while Katarina could be a huge part of the story, she won't be staying the entire season. Her storyline won't last long since other larger threats are coming out for Reddington. Perhaps, the new Big Bad in The Blacklist season 8 is Neville Townsend.

He is the architect of the Townsend Directive -- the mysterious kill order on Katarina. It looks like they're still out there, given that they've been frequently mentioned. Some suggest that Reddington is Townsend, though there's no indication whether that's true to not.

There's also a chance that a Big Bad from the past could appear in the upcoming installment, with Alexander Kirk being one. He could bring chaos once again, putting Reddington and the rest in a difficult position. Yet, someone completely new could arrive and will bring more problems for everyone.

Meanwhile, we could also see a potential conflict between Reddington and Liz in The Blacklist season 8. The latter has to figure out where her allegiance lies, especially since Katarina has been so persuasive. Reddington tends to keep information from Liz, so she's might feel frustrated.

Katarina could use this as an opportunity to turn Liz on her side. Since Reddington has been hiding secrets from her, it's understandable she seeks for answers. But in the end, Liz could understand Reddington and his reasons, and they could eventually work together again.

As for the official release date of The Blacklist season 8, nothing is confirmed at the moment. Filming hasn't yet started, but CarterMatt noted it could begin in September leading to a November premiere. However, some things could still change depending on the situation.
