Once The Blacklist season 8 premieres on NBC, there are several storylines that needed to be addressed. The series tends to feature some faces, but their stories weren't being tied immediately. Entering the upcoming installment, is there a chance to see some of these familiar faces appearing in the series?

As per CarterMatt, there are five characters that should return in The Blacklist season 8. The first one is Alexander Kirk. In the first half of the fourth installment, the character was the Big Bad and was believed to be Elizabeth Keen's father.

Alexander and Katarina Rostova have some sort of connection; something that should be further addressed. However, it remains to be seen whether or not the character is still out there. Sam Navabi is another character that should return to the series.

Her exit has something to do with Mozhan Marno. While there is no guarantee that Samar will ever come back in the series, it would be interesting to see her relationship with Aram being explored. This is something that some want to see before the show officially concludes.

Another character that needs to return to the series is Jennifer Reddington. There's still a lot of question when it comes to her. For instance, why Raymond Reddington is more concerned about Liz, and seemingly careless bout his daughter. This also raises a question as to whom the real Reddington is.

Meanwhile, there are also questions about whether Ilya Koslove will return in The Blacklist season 8. He's been part of the previous installment, but it seems like he might be gone in the new season. Reddington helped his old pal go off the grid for a while. Yet, how they became close friends in the first place?

Lastly, Matias Solomon is an interesting character from The Blacklist: Redemption who should make an appearance in the flagship show. It would be nice to see this character coming in the series and working alongside Team Reddington or the Task Force.

But aside for the appearance of these characters, one of the major stories that should be explored in The Blacklist season 8 is Reddington's health, which is seemingly deteriorating. His condition has already been hinted in the previous seasons and many were worried about the character's future.

The upcoming installment may probably address Reddington's health, as it's taking a toll on him and his condition is getting worse. However, even though there have been clues hinting his situation, it's obvious that the character doesn't want to reveal what's happening to him -- just yet.

As for the release date of The Blacklist season 8, there is no clear indication as to when the series will premiere. Because of the current global health crisis, cast and crew won't be able to start filming anytime soon. They could go back to work when the situation goes back to normal.
